Global Implications of the EU’s AI Act – a discussion in Partnership with Ditchley

Earlier this year we were delighted to partner with the Ditchley Foundation on two high level hybrid policy events bringing together legislators, policy makers and academics from all around the world to discuss the global implications of the EU’s AI Act. With the Institute of AI’s Chair Darren Jones, and Director Emma Wright, Director of the Ditchley Foundation James Arroyo OBE hosted the hybrid event at Ditchley Park where Professor Lilian Edwards of the Ada Lovelace Institute and Maciej Kuziemski of the Ditchley Foundation gave speeches.

During the wide-ranging debate attendees discussed how the EU’s AI Act relates to regulation in other parts of the world, AI and ethics and practical considerations relating to the Act. Attendees included legislators from New Zealand, Taiwan, the European Parliament, Canada, and Portugal.

Ditchley’s purpose is to work with people from across the world to help sustain peace, freedom and order. Ditchley brings together a mix of people from the worlds of politics, technology, finance, academia, the media and the Arts, enabling people at the height of their careers to mingle with young and emerging talent in an informal and egalitarian atmosphere where learning flows in both directions. The organisation was founded as a privately-funded charity in 1958 by the philanthropist Sir David Wills in order to support the Transatlantic Alliance between the United States and Europe by bringing decision makers and experts together in a unique and inspiring setting.
