IoAI announces collaboration with WEF on Global AI Action Alliance

AI has the potential to contribute over $15 trillion to the global economy by 2030. But it will only achieve its potential if it is used responsibly and in the global public interest.

The World Economic Forum has today launched the Global AI Action Alliance, a new multi-stakeholder initiative that brings together organisations from the public, private, and non-profit sectors to ensure that AI’s benefits are realized and shared equitably across society.

The Institute of AI is delighted to announce our involvement in this project, driving cutting-edge projects focused on key impact areas and unmet needs.

“We look forward to working with the Alliance to ensure legislators understand the technology and can advocate for the ethical use of AI. The Institute of AI brings together legislators to discuss strategic issues, along with regulatory approaches to emerging tech, and we’re delighted to announce our involvement in the Alliance.” Darren Jones MP, Chair of the Institute of AI

“Working with legislators from around the world, the Institute of AI sees global collaboration as essential to ensure the ethical development of AI for future generations. The Global AI Action Alliance is a welcome step in the right direction, and we are delighted to take part in this WEF initiative.” Emma Wright, Director of the Institute of AI

Alongside other Alliance members, we will collaborate to implement the best available tools and practices for using AI responsibly and maximising its societal benefits, in particular for groups that have been historically underrepresented in the AI ecosystem and/or underserved by AI systems. We believe the Alliance will help to create real-time collaboration and exchange between the public, private, non-profit, and academic sectors, breaking down silos and accelerating learning and action.

We look forward to working with the Alliance to ensure legislators understand the technology and can advocate for the ethical use of AI.
